CREW Atlanta: What made you decide to work in the field you are in?
Audrey Frey: While looking to make a career change, I was introduced to the CRE industry through a close relationship in the business. I believed that my skillset and experience from my previous roles would be a great compliment to the CRE industry.
How do you think your profession may change in the next 10-20 years?
Now more than ever, I believe our industry will be driven by relationships. Our industry is extremely competitive and even with our unique differentiators, people want to do business with individuals they trust and respect. I see many companies choosing to centralize their real estate and wanting one provider to service them across multi-markets. I also believe technology will play a large part in the way we do business. Just like we didn’t know about all the technological advances we have today 10 years ago, there is no way to know what we will have at our disposal 10 years from now.
Additionally, the work preferences and real estate preferences of the users over the next two decades will look different than what we know today. Adapting to and anticipating those changes will be key for people in commercial real estate in general, but particularly in my position as a managing director, I will need to keep this in mind when considering my employees and our clients.
When and how did you join CREW?
I joined CREW in January 2016, shortly after entering the industry. Marcy Moneypenny and Heather Lamb were very influential in my decision to join.
East Northport, New York
I’ve been married to my best friend, Dan, for 22 years. We have two boys, Sam (19) and Jason (17).
Dream job? If you had to pick a different job, what would it be?
Craziest job you ever had?
Hands down, the job that started 19 years ago and continues to this day. Being a mother is the most challenging, rewarding and unpredictable job I’ve ever had.
Tell us one thing people might be surprised to know about you.
I won my first body building competition at the age of 42.
If you were a brand, what would your personal slogan be?
If you could have a freeway billboard sign with any content you wanted on it, what would it say?
Life is short, enjoy every moment.
Hobbies/interests? What do you do to relieve stress?
Health and fitness are a big part of my life. Nothing relieves stress for me more than a good workout! I love traveling and spending time with my family.
Other than your career, what other skill would you like to develop most in life?
I am constantly working on mindfulness and being present with those around me.
